Monitor KDS/GDS Data
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
■ Check ECM/PCM communication
- Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"
- Connect KDS/GDS and setup the oscilloscope.
- Back probe and measure signal waveform of Pin No. 83 (EMS) terminal of ECM main harness connector and chassis ground by using VMI A channel. (GAMMA 1.6 T-GDI DCT)
- Back probe and measure signal waveform of Pin No. 14 (EMS) terminal of PCM main harness connector and chassis ground by using VMI A channel. (THETA II 2.0 T-GDI)
- Back probe and measure signal waveform of Pin No. 14 (EMS) terminal of PCM main harness connector and chassis ground by using VMI A channel. (THETA II 2.4 GDI)
Specification: Refer to Fig 1 below
- Is the measured signal waveform normal?
YES
- Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the part's and/or PCM connector or was repaired and SMK unit memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair " procedure.
NO
- Go to "SMK Status Information" procedure below.
■ SMK Status Information
- Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"
- Erase DTC after connecting KDS/GDS.
- Check Smart key status in "Vehicle S/W Management", if DTC is retrieved.
