Test SP-6A, Testing Cruise Control On/Off Switch
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Probe both ends of cruise control fuse. If voltage at both ends of fuse is 10 volts or more, perform TEST SP-6B . If voltage is 10 volts or more at input side of fuse only, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts at input side of fuse, repair open in Dark Blue wire between ignition switch and speed control fuse. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER .
- Put cruise control ON/OFF switch in OFF position. Replace cruise control fuse. Probe end of fuse (White/Red wire at output side) that had less than 10 volts. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair short to ground in White/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER . If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step.
- Put cruise control ON/OFF switch in ON position. Probe end of fuse (White/Red wire at output side) that previously had less than 10 volts. If voltage is 10 volts or more, test is complete. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER . If voltage is less than 10 volts, put cruise control ON/OFF switch in OFF position. Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Disconnect Single Board Engine Controller (SBEC) connector. Inspect connector. If connector is not okay, repair connector as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER . If connector is okay, place DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Probe terminal No. 48 (Brown/Red wire) at SBEC connector. Record resistance reading. Probe terminal No. 50 (White/Light Green wire) at SBEC connector.
- If resistance is 10 ohms or more at both terminals No. 48 and 50, repair short to ground in Yellow/Red wire between SBEC connector and cruise control ON/OFF switch. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER . If resistance is less than 10 ohms at both terminals No. 48 and 50, go to next step.
- Disconnect cruise control ON/OFF switch connector. Probe terminal No. 48 (Brown/Red wire) at SBEC connector. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER . If resistance is 10 ohms or more, probe terminal No. 50 (White/Light Green wire) at SBEC connector.
- If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair short to ground in White/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER . If resistance is 10 ohms or more, replace cruise control switch. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER .
