Retrieving ABS/TCS Diagnostic Trouble Codes

  1. Drive vehicle at speed greater than 19 MPH for at least one minute. Turn ignition off. Connect a jumper wire between ground and DLC terminal No. 8 (top right terminal).
NOTE: DO NOT depress brake pedal.
  2. Turn ignition on, with engine off. After 3 seconds, SLIP indicator light should begin to flash ABS/TCS Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). See READING ABS/TCS DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  . Use ABS/TCS DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION  table to determine malfunction associated with DTC, and perform appropriate diagnostic procedure. Indication begins and ends with DTC 12. If no DTC(s) are set and ABS is not functioning properly, diagnose system by symptom. See SYMPTOM TESTS  .
NOTE: SLIP indicator light will stop flashing after 5 minutes. To reactivate code display, turn ignition off and back to on. TCS OFF and ABS indicator lights will stay on.
  3. After completing repairs, clear DTCs. See CLEARING ABS/TCS DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  . Recheck DTCs to ensure malfunction codes have been cleared. Remove jumper wire from DLC. Drive vehicle at speeds greater than 19 MPH for at least one minute. Ensure all warning indicator lights does not come on. Test ABS in a safe area.
