Data Link Diagnostics Network Test

- Connect Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) tester or New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Select vehicle to be tested from WDS tester or NGS tester menu. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Allow WDS tester to identify vehicle. Select menu item DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK on NGS tester and press trigger. WDS tester will automatically run DATA LINK test. A test will be performed on the bus (circuits No. 914 and 915) network, UBP network (circuit No. 693) and the ISO 9141 network (circuit No. 70).
- If WDS or NGS tester displays SYSTEM PASSED, module communications networks are okay. Return to article of system in question to continue diagnosis.
- If WDS or NGS tester does not display SYSTEM PASSED, perform the following as applicable:
- If no response from WDS or NGS tester, go to TEST Q: NO MODULE/NETWORK COMMUNICATION - NO POWER TO WDS OR NGS TESTER under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If WDS or NGS tester displays CKT70, CKT914 and/or CKT915 = SOME ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, see SYMPTOM INDEX table to continue diagnosis.
- If WDS or NGS tester displays CKT70 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, go to TEST N: NO MODULE/NETWORK COMMUNICATIONS - ISO 9141 NETWORK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If WDS or NGS tester displays CKT914 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, go to TEST O: NO MODULE/NETWORK COMMUNICATIONS - SCP NETWORK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If WDS or NGS tester displays CKT915 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, go to TEST O: NO MODULE/NETWORK COMMUNICATIONS - SCP NETWORK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If module in question is NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED, see SYMPTOM INDEX table to continue diagnosis.
- If module in question is NO RESPONSE ON CKT914 (BUS+) or NO RESPONSE ON CKT915 (BUS-), see SYMPTOM INDEX table to continue diagnosis.
