Test SC-7B: Checking Speed Control Operation
NOTE:
Perform TEST SC-7A
before proceeding.
- Disconnect speed control relay. Speed control relay is located in right rear corner of engine compartment. Ensure brake lights are operational before proceeding. Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance of speed control relay output circuit Dark Blue/White wire between speed control relay connector terminal No. 3 and speed control servo connector terminal No. 3. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open speed control relay output circuit. Perform TEST SC-VER . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Ensure speed control switch is on. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage of speed control sense circuit Red/Black wire between speed control relay connector terminal No. 1 and ground. If voltage is 9 volts or less, repair open speed control relay sense circuit to speed control ON/OFF switch. Perform TEST SC-VER . If voltage is more than 9 volts, go to next step.
- Measure voltage of speed control relay control circuit Dark Green wire between speed control relay connector terminal No. 2 and ground. If voltage is 9 volts or less, replace speed control relay. If voltage is more than 9 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect brake switch connector. Brake switch connector is located near top of brake pedal. Measure voltage of speed control relay control circuit Dark Green wire between speed control relay connector terminal No. 2 and ground. If voltage is more than 9 volts, repair short to battery voltage on speed control relay control circuit. Perform TEST SC-VER . If voltage is 9 volts or less, replace brake switch. Perform TEST SC-VER .
