RECIRCULATION Control Motor Does Not Operate Doors

  1. Check fuse No. 3 (7.5-amp) in underdash fuse/relay box. If fuse is blown, replace fuse. If necessary, repair short to ground. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect recirculation control motor 5-pin harness connector. Turn ignition on. Check for voltage between ground and terminal No. 5 (Black/Yellow wire) of recirculation control motor 5-pin harness connector. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open wire between fuse No. 3 (7.5-amp) and recirculation control motor. If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Test recirculation control motor. See RECIRCULATION CONTROL MOTOR  under COMPONENT TESTS. If motor is okay, go to next step. If recirculation motor is not okay, go to step  8 .
  4. Disconnect climate control unit 20-pin harness connector "B". Check continuity between ground and individual terminals B9 (Green/White wire) and B10 (Green/Red wire) of climate control 20-pin harness connector "B". If continuity exists, repair short to ground in Green/White or Green/Red wire between climate control unit 20-pin harness connector "B" and recirculation motor.
  5. Turn ignition on. Check voltage in Green/Red wire between terminal B10 of climate control unit 20-pin harness connector "B" and terminal No. 2 of recirculation control motor harness connector. Check voltage in Green/White wire between terminal B9 of climate control unit 20-pin harness connector "B" and terminal No. 1 of recirculation control motor harness connector. If voltage does not exist, go to next step. If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Green/Red or Green/White wires. If climate control unit was damaged due to a short to power, repair wiring prior to replacing climate control unit.
  6. Turn ignition off. Check continuity in Green/Red wire between terminal B10 of climate control unit 20-pin harness connector "B" and terminal No. 2 of recirculation control motor harness connector. Check continuity in Green/White wire between terminal B9 of climate control unit 20-pin harness connector "B" and terminal No. 1 of recirculation control motor harness connector. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Green/Red or Green/White wires. If continuity exists, go to next step.
  7. Check for loose terminals or connections at climate control unit 20-pin harness connector and recirculation motor 5-pin harness connector. If connections are okay, substitute climate control unit with known-good climate control unit and retest. See CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If symptom does not exist after substituting known-good climate control unit, replace original climate control unit.
  8. Remove recirculation motor. See RECIRCULATION CONTROL MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check recirculation control linkage and doors for smooth movement. If control linkage and doors do not operate smoothly, correct problem. If control linkage and doors operate smoothly, replace recirculation control motor.
