Checking components and wiring
Check the control module and mode selector connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to Contact resistance and oxidation
Check that the Winter (W) mode selector button does not stick and is not damaged in any way. Shake the mode selector and check there are no loose components in the switch.
Check the resistance between mode selector terminals 2 and 4 when button is pressed down. The resistance must be approximately 0 ohm.
Check the cable between mode selector terminal 4 and control module terminal 33 for an open-circuit according to Open-circuit, permanent faults .
Check the cable between mode selector terminal 2 and the ground terminal for an open-circuit according to Open-circuit, permanent faults .
Remedy as necessary.

- The voltage on the signal cable varies between 0-2 V below battery voltage or approximately 0 V depending on the mode selector's position. Approximately 0 V in the Winter (W) position. For other values, see Control module connector, #1- #42 .
