Acceleration sensor, suspension

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2007 Volvo V70, 2006 Volvo V70, 2005 Volvo V70, 2004 Volvo V70, and 2003 Volvo V70. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

On the front suspension are two acceleration sensors, one on each spring strut. These measure the speed of vertical change. The sensors are supplied with 5V by the suspension module (SUM). When the vehicle is stationary, the output signal from the sensors is approximately 2.5V. When there is vertical movement the signal will oscillate around this value; the greater the movement the greater the deviation. The control module calculates a damper position and speed from the acceleration. The control module uses the position and speed to determine the required damping force.

There are diagnostics for the acceleration sensors.
