Front Lower Control Arm Removal And Installation/Replacement
Mobile Repair Possible: No
Removal Procedure:
- Remove the front wheel. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- Remove underbody thrust panel. Refer to UNDERBODY THRUST PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Remove underbody air shield. Refer to UNDERBODY FRONT AIR SHIELD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Remove or disconnect the front level sensor (Left side) from the front lower control arm. Refer to FRONT SUB FRAME LEVEL SENSOR ROD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
Remove the front sub frame/engine cradle. Refer to FRONT SUB FRAME/ENGINE CRADLE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Remove and discard the torque prevailing bolt (1).
Replace with new only
Torque - First Pass: 148 Nm
Torque - Final Pass: 45° Rotation Angle
- Remove and discard the torque prevailing bolt (1).
Replace with new only
Torque - First Pass: 148 Nm
Torque - Final Pass: 45° Rotation Angle
- Remove or loosen the 2 bolts (1) from lower ball joint assembly.
Torque: 165 Nm
- Remove the lower control arm off the front sub frame.
Replacement Procedure:
- The 3 lower control arm bushes are not serviceable. If these are damaged the whole lower control arm needs to be replaced.
Installation Procedure:
- Installation is the reverse of removal procedure, noting the following.
All fasteners must be tightened to torque specifications!
- Counteract nuts when tightening.NOTE: Safety-relevant procedure step
Failure to discard the specified component(s) may cause damage to the vehicle or vehicle components.- Fasteners highlighted as torque prevailing must be discarded and not re-used.
- Replace with new Bolts only.
- Install the front sub frame/engine cradle. Refer to FRONT SUB FRAME/ENGINE CRADLE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
