Liftgate Trim Finish Panel Removal And Installation/Replacement

Overview:
Liftgate Trim Finish Panel (1).
Removal Procedure:
- Disconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Refer to 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION
- Open the tailgate.
- Disengage the upper trim cover (1) from the side trims (2) (note arrows).
- Release the 5 clips (3) with a plastic wedge and remove the upper trim cover (1).
Installation note: Check clips (1) for damage and replace if needed.
The procedure for the left-hand component is identical to that for the right-hand side.
- Pull the pin (1) out and remove the plug (2).
Removal note: Carry out this step on both sides.
The procedure for the left-hand component is identical to that for the right-hand side.
- Disengage the trim cover (1) from the lower trim cover (2) (note arrows).
- Release both clips (3) with a plastic wedge and remove the trim cover (1).
Removal note: Carry out this step on both sides.
Installation note: Check clips (1) for damage and replace if needed.
- Unclip and remove both cover caps (1).
- Remove both screws (1).
Torque: 1.6 Nm
- Release 15 clips with a plastic wedge as indicated.
- Loosen liftgate trim finish panel (1).
- Unlock and disconnect electrical connector (1).
- Remove liftgate trim finish panel (2).
Replacement Procedure:
- Press both latching lugs in arrow direction.
- Rebuild the closing switch (1) from the liftgate trim finish panel (2).
Installation Procedure:
Installation note: Check clips for damage and replace if needed.
- Installation is the reverse of removal procedure, noting the following.
All fasteners must be tightened to torque specification!
- Reconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Refer to 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION
