Removal [12/2015 - 11/2017]: Procedure
- POSITION FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL WARNING:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTE:When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [12/2015 - 08/2016] Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2016 - 11/2017] ).
- REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2
- REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3
- REMOVE STEERING PAD
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6
- REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10
- REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11
- REMOVE SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the horn connector.TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION
*1 Slider - Slide the slider and disengage the airbag connector.
- Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector.
- Disengage the 3 claws and remove the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly.WARNING:
- Do not replace the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly when the ignition switch is ON and the battery cable is connected.
- Do not rotate the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly when the ignition switch is ON and the battery cable is connected.
- Make sure the steering wheel is installed and centered before rotating the steering angle sensor when performing steering angle sensor operation inspections (inspecting for abnormal noise, diagnosis inspections, etc.).
- Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
- If there is a malfunction in the steering angle sensor, replace the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly.
- Disconnect the horn connector.
