Installation [06/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL NO. 1 BACK WINDOW GLASS STOPPER

    1. When reusing the windshield glass:
      1. Apply primer (Sunstar #435-70) to the glass attachment surface of the new No. 1 back window glass stopper.
      2. Apply primer (Sunstar #435-40) to the No. 1 back window glass stopper attachment surface of the back window glass.

      3. After drying the primer, apply adhesive (Sunstar #560) to the No. 1 back window glass stopper attachment surface.
      4. Install the No. 1 back window glass stopper to the back window glass, as shown in the illustration.

  2. INSTALL NO. 2 BACK WINDOW GLASS STOPPER 
    1. When reusing the windshield glass:

      HINT: 

      Use the same procedure as for the No. 1 back window glass stopper.

  3. INSTALL NO. 1 BACK WINDOW MOLDING 
    1. Using a brush or sponge, coat the application area of a new No. 1 back window molding with Primer (3M N-200).
      NOTE:
      • Do not apply too much primer.
      • Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.
      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      HINT: 

      If an area other than specified is coated by accident, wipe off the primer with a clean piece of cloth before it dries.

    2. Using a roller, install the new No. 1 back window molding onto the back window glass, as shown in the illustration.

      NOTE:

      Install the No. 1 back window molding firmly so that it does not sag.

    3. Using a roller, install the new No. 1 back window molding onto the back window glass, as shown in the illustration.

      NOTE:

      Install the No. 1 back window molding firmly so that it does not sag.

  4. INSTALL BACK WINDOW GLASS ADHESIVE DAM 
    1. Using a brush or sponge, coat the application area of a new back window glass adhesive dams with Primer (3M-N200).
      NOTE:
      • Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.
      • Do not apply too much primer.
      • Do not keep any of the opened Primer for later use.

      HINT: 

      If any area other than the specified is coated by accident, wipe off the primer with a clean piece of cloth before it dries.

    2. Install the new back window glass adhesive dams onto the back window glass, as shown in the illustration.

      HINT: 

      Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH sides.

  5. INSTALL BACK WINDOW GLASS 
    1. Position the back window glass.

      *a Matchmark
      1. Using suction cups, place the back window glass in the correct position.
      2. Check that the whole contact surface of the back window glass rim is perfectly even.
      3. Align the matchmarks on the back window glass and vehicle body.
        NOTE:

        Check that the back window glass stoppers are correctly attached to the vehicle body.

      4. Remove the back window glass.
    2. Using a brush, coat the installation surface on the vehicle body with Primer (sunstar #435-40).

      • Do not coat the adhesive with Primer.
      • Do not apply too much primer.

    3. Using a brush or sponge, coat the adhesive application area with Primer (3M N-200).

    4. Apply adhesive to the glass.

      Adhesive

      Toyota Genuine Windshield Glass Adhesive or equivalent

      1. Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration.

      2. Load the sealer gun with the cartridge.
      3. Apply adhesive to the back window glass as shown in the illustration.

    5. Apply adhesive tape, etc. to the back window glass and the body panel section, and use a pen to apply matching marks for use when installing (when using the new back window glass).

      1. Using suction cups, position the back window glass so that the matchmarks are aligned, and press it in gently along the rim.
        NOTE:
        • Check that the back window glass stopper are attached to the vehicle body correctly.
        • Check the clearance between the vehicle body and back window glass.
        • After the primer on the body is dried (about 10 minutes), install the back window glass.
      2. Lightly press the front surface of the back window glass to ensure that the back window glass is securely fit to the vehicle body.

        HINT: 

        Press the glass with force of 98 N (10 kgf, 22.0 lbf) or more.

      3. Using a scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive.

        HINT: 

        Apply adhesive onto the back window glass rim.

      4. Hold the back window glass using protective tape until the applied adhesive becomes hard.

        HINT: 

        Follow the instructions in the owner's manuals provided by each adhesive manufacturer regarding the minimum required drying time after applying adhesive, and the time required before driving.

    6. Connect each connector.
  6. INSPECT WATER LEAK 
    1. After the adhesive has hardened, apply water from the outside of the vehicle. Check that no water leaks into the cabin.
    2. If water leaks into the cabin, allow the water to dry and add adhesive.
    3. Remove the protective tape.
  7. INSTALL PACKAGE TRAY TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  8. INSTALL REAR WINDOW SIDE GARNISH LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [06/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12 [12/2017 - ]

  9. INSTALL REAR WINDOW SIDE GARNISH RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  10. INSTALL QUARTER TRIM LID SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12 [06/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14 [12/2017 - ]

  11. INSTALL QUARTER TRIM LID SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  12. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14 [06/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16 [12/2017 - ]

  13. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  14. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT INNER TRIM COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16 [06/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18 [12/2017 - ]

  15. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT INNER TRIM COVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  16. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 24 [06/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 26 [12/2017 - ]

  17. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  18. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 26 [06/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 28 [12/2017 - ]

  19. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  20. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18

  21. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.
