Center Airbag Sensor Assembly: Removal: Removal

WARNING:

Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing. Refer to PRECAUTION .

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .

  2. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (for Slide Type) 

    Refer to REMOVAL

  3. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (for Fixed Type) 

    Refer to REMOVAL

  4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT LOWER CENTER COVER (w/ Console Box)  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 42
  5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT LOWER CENTER COVER (w/o Console Box)  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 41
  6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 39
  7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 40
  8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH LOWER CENTER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 43
  9. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT 
    1. Disengage the 6 claws to remove the rear No. 1 air duct.

  10. REMOVE REAR NO. 3 AIR DUCT 
    1. Disengage 6 claws to remove the rear No. 3 air duct.

  11. REMOVE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    Confirm that the negative battery terminal is disconnected before performing the operation. Even an impact to only the airbag sensor will cause the airbag to deploy.

    1. Pull the lever down and detach the connector holder.

    2. Remove the 3 bolts and the center airbag sensor.

  12. REMOVE AIRBAG SENSOR BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and the airbag sensor bracket.
