Back Door Entry Lock Function does not Operate: Procedure

  1. CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK OPERATION 
    1. When the door control switch on the master switch assembly is operated, check that the locked doors unlock. Refer to OPERATION CHECK .

      OK

      Locked doors unlock.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE ON TECHSTREAM (BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH) 
    1. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the tester on.
    4. Enter the following menus:

      Body Electrical / Smart Key / Data List.

    5. Select Tr/B-Door Lock SW in the Data List and read the tester display.
      SMART KEY (CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY)):

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Display Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Tr/B-Door Lock SW Back door lock switch / ON or OFF ON: Back door lock switch is pushed -
      OFF: Back door lock switch is not pushed

      OK

      On the tester screen, each item changes between ON and OFF according to the chart above.

    NG → See step   3 

    OK → See step   6 

  3. CHECK BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH 
    1. Remove the back door opener switch. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Lock switch pushed Below 1 Ω
      1 - 2 Lock switch not pushed 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → See step   8 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU - BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D40-7 (TSW5) - h1-1 (L) Always Below 1 Ω
      D40-7 (TSW5) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      h1-2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   6 

  6. REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  7. GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  8. REPLACE BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL
