Driver Side Door Entry Unlock Function does not Operate: Procedure

  1. CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK OPERATION 
    1. When the door control switch on the master switch assembly is operated, check that the locked doors unlock. Refer to OPERATION CHECK .

      OK

      Locked doors unlock.

    NG → See step   10 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (DOOR LOCK POSITION SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      MAIN BODY (MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK))

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      D-Door Lock Pos SW Driver door lock position switch signal/LOCK or UNLOCK ON: Driver side door is unlocked
      OFF: Driver side door is locked
      -

      OK

      On the Techstream screen, the display changes between ON and OFF as shown in the chart above.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      OK A
      NG B
      (Proceed to "Driver Door LOCK/UNLOCK Functions do not Operate")

    B → See step   12 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE ON TECHSTREAM (DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE) 
    1. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Key / Data List.
    2. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      SMART KEY (CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY)):

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      D Touch Sensor Status of touch sensor front LH / ON or OFF ON: Touch sensor is touched
      OFF: Touch sensor is not touched
      -

      OK

      On the Techstream screen, the display changes between ON and OFF as shown in the chart above.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → See step   11 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU - DOOR ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR) 
    1. Disconnect the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) and door electrical key oscillator connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D40-5 (SEL1) - z14-4 (SEL) Always Below 1 Ω
      D40-22 (SEN1) - z14-6 (SENS) Always Below 1 Ω
      D40-5 (SEL1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D40-22 (SEN1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DOOR ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR - FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE) 
    1. Remove the front door outside handle. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Disconnect the touch sensor connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z13-6 (SGT) - z14-2 (SGT) Always Below 1 Ω
      z13-6 (SGT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. REPLACE DOOR ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR 
    1. Replace the door electrical key oscillator. Refer to REMOVAL .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK DOOR ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR (OPERATION) 
    1. Check that the entry functions operate normally.

      OK

      Entry functions operate normally.

    NG → See step   8 

    OK → END (DOOR ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR IS DEFECTIVE) 

  8. REPLACE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE 
    1. Replace the front door outside handle RH. Refer to REMOVAL .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE (OPERATION) 
    1. Check that the entry functions operate normally.

      OK

      Entry functions operate normally.

    NG → See step   11 

    OK → END (FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE IS DEFECTIVE) 

  10. GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  11. REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  12. GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to  Only Driver Door LOCK / UNLOCK Functions do not Operate
