Inspection Procedure

- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ENGINE CONDITION)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.
- Read the display on the Techstream.
Main body ECU
MAIN BODY ECU - DATA LISTTester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Engine Condition Engine condition/RUN or STOP RUN: Engine running
STOP: Engine stopped- OK:
When the engine is running, RUN is displayed on the Techstream.
NG: Go to step 2
OK: REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK)
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - ECM)
- Disconnect the E17 main body ECU connector.
- Disconnect the A9 ECM connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition E17-2 (TACH) - A9-15 (TACH) Always Below 1 Ω E17-2 (TACH) or A9-15 (TACH) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK: Go to next step
- CHECK WHETHER ENGINE STARTS
- Temporarily replace the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block) with a new or normally functioning one.
- Check that the engine starts normally.
OK:
Engine starts normally.
NG: GO TO SFI SYSTEM (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )
OK: END (MAIN BODY ECU IS DEFECTIVE)
