Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK WIRELESS DOOR LOCK FUNCTION 
    1. Check the wireless door lock control functions (see OPERATION CHECK ).

    OK: Each function of wireless door lock control system operates normally using transmitter switches. 

    NG: Go to step 2 

    OK: END 

  2. CHECK TRANSMITTER LED ILLUMINATION 
    1. Check that the transmitter's LED illuminates 3 times when the switch is pressed 3 times.

    OK: Transmitter's LED illuminates 3 times when switch is pressed 3 times. 

    Result 

    RESULT CHART

    Result Proceed to
    NG A
    OK B

    B: Go to step  4

    A: Go to next step 

  3. REPLACE TRANSMITTER BATTERY 
    1. Temporarily replace the transmitter battery with a new or normally functioning one (see TRANSMITTER BATTERY (W/ SMART KEY SYSTEM) ).
    2. Check that the doors can be locked and unlocked using the transmitter switches.

    OK: Doors can be locked and unlocked with transmitter. 

    NG: Go to step 4 

    OK: END (TRANSMITTER BATTERY IS DEFECTIVE) 

  4. SWITCH TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC MODE 
    1. Switch to self-diagnostic mode.
      1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream main switch ON.

        HINT:

        Refer to the Techstream operator's manual for further details.

      3. Check that the system has switched to self-diagnostic mode by checking wireless door lock buzzer sound pattern.

    OK: Sound pattern is same as illustration. 

    NG: REPLACE ECU AGGREGATION BOX  (See CERTIFICATION ECU (W/ SMART KEY SYSTEM) )

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK BY SELF-DIAGNOSTIC MODE

    1. Check the diagnostic outputs when the door control transmitter switch is held down. The diagnostic outputs can be checked by the flash patterns of the room light.

    Result: 

    RESULT CHART

    Result Proceed to
    Unmatching recognition code is output A
    Normal waves (buzzer sound patterns) is output B
    No diagnosis outputs C

    B: REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK (MAIN BODY ECU) 

    C: Go to step  7

    A: Go to next step 

  6. REGISTER RECOGNITION CODE 
    1. Check that the system can be switched to rewrite mode or add mode, and that a recognition code can be registered.

    OK: System can switch to rewrite mode or Add mode and that recognition code can be registered. 

    NG: Go to step  12

    OK: END 

  7. CHECK DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER (RESPONSE) 
    1. Temporarily replace the door control receiver with a new or normally functioning one (see REMOVAL ).
    2. Held down the door control transmitter's switch.
    3. Check that an unmatching recognition code is output.

    OK: Unmatching recognition code is output. 

    NG: Go to step 8 

    OK: REPLACE DOOR CONTROL TRANSMITTER 

  8. CHECK DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER (OUTPUT) 
    1. Measure the voltage of the connector.

    Standard voltage 

    TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    L24-5 (DATA) - Body ground Engine switch off, all doors closed and transmitter switch not pressed → pressed Below 1 V → 11 to 14 V → Below 1 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (CERTIFICATION ECU-DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER) 
    1. Disconnect the E84 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the L24 receiver connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

    Standard resistance 

    TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Specified Condition
    E84-38 (RDA) - L24-5 (DATA) Below 1 Ω
    E84-39 (RSSI) - L24-2 (RSSI)
    E84-29 (RCO) - L24-4 (+5)
    E84-38 (RDA) or L24-5 (DATA) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    E84-39 (RSSI) or L24-2 (RSSI) - Body ground
    E84-29 (RCO) or L24-4 (+5) - Body ground

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (MAIN BODY ECU - CERTIFICATION ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the E16 and E84 ECU connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

    Standard resistance 

    TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Specified Condition
    E16-11 (CANP) - E84-27 (CANH) Below 1 Ω
    E16-12 (CANN) - E84-28 (CANL)
    E16-11 (CANP) or E84-27 (CANH) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    E16-12 (CANN) or E84-28 (CANL) -Body ground

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER 
    1. Temporarily replace the door lock control receiver with a new or normally functioning one (see REMOVAL ).
    2. Check that the doors can be locked and unlocked by using the transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK switches.

    OK: Doors can be locked and unlocked with transmitter. 

    NG: Go to step 12 

    OK: END (DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER IS DEFECTIVE) 

  12. CHECK ECU AGGREGATION BOX (OPERATION) 
    1. Temporarily replace the ECU aggregation box (certification ECU) with a new one.
    2. Check that the doors can be locked and unlocked by using the transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK switches.

    OK: Doors can be locked and unlocked with transmitter. 

    NG: REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK (MAIN BODY ECU) 

    OK: END (CERTIFICATION ECU IS DEFECTIVE)
