Cruise Control Switch Circuit: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM

    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Cruise Control / Data List.
    5. Check the Data List for proper functioning of the cruise control main switch.
      CRUISE CONTROL:

      Techstream Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      CCS Main SW M-CPU Main switch signal (Main CPU)/ON or OFF ON: Main switch on
      OFF: Main switch off
      -
      Cancel Switch CANCEL switch signal/ON or OFF ON: CANCEL switch on
      OFF: CANCEL switch off
      -
      SET/COAST Switch - (COAST)/SET switch signal/ON or OFF ON: - SET switch on
      OFF: - SET switch off
      -
      RES/ACC Switch + (ACCEL)/RES switch signal/ON or OFF ON: + RES switch on
      OFF: + RES switch off
      -

      OK

      The display changes as shown above according to switch operation.

      RESULT:

      Result Proceed to
      OK A
      NG (All items are defective) B
      NG (1 to 3 items are defective) C

    A → PROCEED TO  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    C → REPLACE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH 

    B: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH 
    1. Disconnect the cruise control main switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 (ECC) - 3 (CCS) Main Switch off*1 1 MΩ or higher
      Main Switch on Below 2.5 Ω
      + RES 235 to 245 Ω
      - SET 617 to 643 Ω
      CANCEL 1509 to 1571 Ω

      *1: Lever is in the neutral position

    3. Connect the cruise control main switch connector.

    NG → REPLACE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the cruise control switch wire connector from the spiral cable and cruise control main switch.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-3 - B-3 Always Below 1 Ω
      A-4 - B-1 Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Connect the cruise control switch wire connector to the spiral cable and cruise control main switch.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE 
    NOTE:

    The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent the airbag from deploying. Be sure to read article shown in the brackets.

    1. Remove the spiral cable. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Spiral Cable Position Specified Condition
      A-3 - D15-1 Center Below 1 Ω
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right
      A-4 - D15-2 Center Below 1 Ω
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right

      HINT: 

      The spiral cable makes a maximum of approximately 5 rotations.

    3. Install the spiral cable. Refer to INSTALLATION .

    NG → REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE - ECM AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the spiral cable.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D15-1 (CCS) - A55-40 (CCS) Always Below 1 Ω
      A55-40 (CCS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D15-2 (ECC) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Connect the ECM connector.
    5. Connect the spiral cable.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → PROCEED TO  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

    C → REPLACE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH 

    B: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH 
    1. Disconnect the cruise control main switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 (ECC) - 3 (CCS) Main Switch off*1 1 MΩ or higher
      Main Switch on Below 2.5 Ω
      + RES 235 to 245 Ω
      - SET 617 to 643 Ω
      CANCEL 1509 to 1571 Ω

    3. Connect the cruise control main switch connector.

    NG → REPLACE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH 

    OK: Go to next step

    1. Disconnect the cruise control switch wire connector from the spiral cable and cruise control main switch.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-3 - B-3 Always Below 1 Ω
      A-4 - B-1 Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Connect the cruise control switch wire connector to the spiral cable and cruise control main switch.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE 
    NOTE:

    The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent the airbag from deploying. Be sure to read article shown in the brackets.

    1. Remove the spiral cable. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Spiral Cable Position Specified Condition
      A-3 - D15-1 Center Below 1 Ω
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right
      A-4 - D15-2 Center Below 1 Ω
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right

      HINT: 

      The spiral cable makes a maximum of approximately 5 rotations.

    3. Install the spiral cable. Refer to INSTALLATION .

    NG → REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE - ECM AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the spiral cable.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D15-1 (CCS) - A55-40 (CCS) Always Below 1 Ω
      A55-40 (CCS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D15-2 (ECC) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Connect the ECM connector.
    5. Connect the spiral cable.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → PROCEED TO  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
