Inspection Procedure

  1. READ VALUE OF TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON with a key that cannot start the engine.
    3. Read the DATA LIST according to the display on the tester.

      Transponder key ECU: 

      TRANSPONDER KEY ECU DATA LIST

      Item Measurement Item/ Display (Range) Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      KEY SW Unlock warning switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Key is in ignition key cylinder
      OFF: No key is in ignition key cylinder
      -

      OK: "ON" (Key is in ignition key cylinder) appears on the screen. 

    OK : REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSEMBLY 

    NG: Go to Next Step. 

  2. INSPECT UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the unlock warning switch assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Switch Position Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Pushed Below 1 Ω
      1 - 2 Not pushed 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPLACE UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    OK : Go to Next Step. 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the U1 switch connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      U1-1 -Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK : Go to Next Step. 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSPONDER KEY ECU - UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the T10 ECU and U1 switch connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      T10-3(KSW)-U1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      U1-2- Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK : REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSEMBLY
