Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Toyota Camry Solara. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (OPERATE C/OPN RELAY)
    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and turn the tester on.
    3. Select the following menu items: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II /ACTIVE TEST/ FUEL PUMP / SPD.
    4. Check whether the fuel pump operation sound occurs when performing the Active Test on the tester.

OK: Fuel pump operating sound occurs.

    NG: Go to step 2

OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

  2. CHECK ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT

    OK: Go to next step

  3. INSPECT C/OPN RELAY
    1. Remove the C/OPN relay from the engine room junction block.
    2. Measure the resistance of the C/OPN relay

      Standard resistance

      RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHART

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      3 - 5 10 kΩ or higher
      3 - 5 Below 1 Ω (when battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2)
    3. Reinstall the C/OPN relay.

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      E4-25 (FC) - E8-3 (E1) 9 to 14 V
    3. Reconnect the ECM connectors.

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (ECM - BATTERY)

    OK: Go to next step

    OK: Go to next step

  5. INSPECT FUEL PUMP

    NG: REPLACE FUEL PUMP

    OK: Go to next step

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (C/OPN RELAY - FUEL PUMP - BODY GROUND)
    1. Check the harness and the connectors between the C/ OPN relay and the fuel pump.
      1. Remove the C/OPN relay from the engine room junction block.
      2. Disconnect the fuel pump connector.
      3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance (Check for open)

        RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHART

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        3 (C/OPN relay) - F8-4 (Fuel pump) Below 1 Ω

        Standard resistance (Check for short)

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
3 (C/OPN relay) or F8-4 (Fuel pump) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    2. Check the harness and the connectors between the fuel pump and body ground.
      1. Disconnect the fuel pump connector.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance (Check for open)
