Inspection Procedure

  1. INSPECT WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM 

    Standard: 

    Wiper function is correct. 

    NG: GO TO  WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISTANCE CONTROL ECU - FRONT WASHER MOTOR) 
    1. Check for an open or short circuit in harness and connector between the distance control ECU and the front washer motor (See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT ECU CONTROLLED SYSTEMS ).

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISTANCE CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION SWITCH) 
    1. Check for an open or short circuit in harness and connector between the distance control ECU and the combination switch (See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT ECU CONTROLLED SYSTEMS ).

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  4. INSPECT DISTANCE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the distance control ECU with connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Measure the voltage between terminal WIP2 (D2-2) and WASH (D2-3) of distance control ECU, when combination switch is operated.

      Voltage 

      DISTANCE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY

      Switch Position Specified Condition
      Wiper Switch OFF Below 1 V
      Wiper Switch HI 10 to 14 V
      Washer Switch OFF 10 to 14 V
      Washer Switch ON Below 1 V

    NG: REPLACE DISTANCE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
