Inspection Procedure
HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester or the OBD II scan tool. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was running or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
When using intelligent tester:
- READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (ACCEL POS #1 AND ACCEL POS #2)
- Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- On the intelligent tester, enter the following menus:
DIAGNOSIS/ENHANCED OBD II/DATA LIST/ALL/ACCEL POS #1 and ACCEL POS #2. Read the values.

- INSPECT ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY (ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR)
- Disconnect the A17 sensor connector.
- Measure the resistance of the sensor terminals.

- CHECK ECM (VPA, VPA2 VOLTAGE)
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Measure the voltage of the ECM connector.
