Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Perform the ACTIVE TEST according to the display on the tester.

      Transponder key ECU: 

      ACTIVE TEST

      Item Tester Details Diagnostic Note
      SECURITY INDIC Turn security indicator ON/OFF -
    1. NG: Go to step 2 
    2. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (SEE  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ) 
  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSY - COMBINATION METER ASSY) 
    1. Disconnect the D33 ECU and E2 combination meter connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard:

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D33-8 (IND) -E2-18 (LP) Always Below 1 Ω
      D33-8 (IND) -Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. INSPECT TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSY 
    1. Reconnect the D33 ECU and E2 combination meter connectors.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard:

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D33-8 (IND) -Body ground Security indicator light comes on 10 to 14 V
      D33-8 (IND) -Body ground Security indicator light goes off Below 1 V
    1. NG: REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSY 
    2. OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY
