Inspection Procedure

  1. READ VALUE ON HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG), and turn the hand-held tester main switch on.
    3. According to the display on the tester, read the "DATA LIST".

      CC (ECM): 

      CC (ECM)

      DISTANCE TIME Car distance time setting condition/SHRT, MID, LONG, NO Distance selected by distance control switch -

      OK: Distance selected by the distance control switch is shown on the display. 

    1. NG: Go to step 2. 
    2. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (SEE  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ) 
  2. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Remove the steering pad switch assy.
    2. Measure the resistance between terminals 4 (DIST) and 6 (ECC) of the steering pad switch assy connector when the distance control switch is operated.

      Standard: 

      STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSY

      Switch position Specified value
      Distance control switch is ON Below 2.5 Ω
      Distance control switch is OFF 100 kΩ or higher

      HINT:

      When a malfunction is detected in the distance control switch, replace the steering pad switch assy.

    1. NG: REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the spiral cable sub-assy connector
    2. Measure the resistance between terminals A and C13 of the spiral cable sub-assy.

      Standard: 

      SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY

      Terminal No. Specified value
      A-4 - D15-11 Below 1 Ω
      A-6 - D15-2 Below 1 Ω

    1. NG: REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY - DISTANCE CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the distance control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY - DISTANCE CONTROL ECU  .

      Standard: 

      SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY - DISTANCE CONTROL ECU

      Tester connection Condition Specification
      Spiral cable (D15-11) -MODE (A20-16) Always Below 1 Ω
      Spiral cable (D15-11) -Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY - BODY GROUND  .

      Standard: 

      SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY - BODY GROUND

      Tester connection Condition Specification
      Spiral cable (D15-2) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE DISTANCE CONTROL ECU (SEE  REPLACEMENT  )
