When not using LEXUS hand-held tester:

  1. Check ENGINE TROUBLESHOOTING (See  DTC P0503: VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR "A" INTERMITTENT/ERRATIC/HIGH  ). 
    1. OK: Replace combination meter. 
    2. NG: Go to next Step. 
  2. Check harness and connector between combination meter and ABS ECU (A/T), combination meter and speed sensor (M/T) (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
    1. NG: Replace or replace harness or connector. 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 

      Check speed sensor circuit and ABS ECU.
