Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus IS 300 and 2002 Lexus IS 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If not using the hand-held tester, start the inspection from step  2.
  1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3. See Figure. Connect terminals 11 (Tc) and 3 (E1) of the DLC1. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . Check that the anti-theft indicator can light in an ACTIVE TEST. If the results are OK, proceed to the next circuit inspection of the symptom. See PROBLEM SYMPTOM INDEX  table. If the results are not good, go to the next step.
  2. Check the indicator light. See INSTRUMENT PANEL article. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, replace the bulb or meter wiring harness.
  3. Check the wiring harness and connector between the theft deterrent ECU and indicator light, indicator light and body ground. If the results are OK, check and replace the theft deterrent ECU. When there is a malfunction that the anti-theft system cannot be set, proceed to the next circuit inspection of the symptom. See PROBLEM SYMPTOM INDEX  table. If the results are not good, repair or replace the harness or connector.
