Inspection Procedure
HINT:
- If DTCs related to different systems that have terminal E2 as the ground terminal are output simultaneously, terminal E2 may have open circuit.
- Read freeze frame data using the hand-held tester or the OBD II scan tool. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was running or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data from the time when a malfunction occurred.
Hand-held tester:
- Connect hand-held tester or OBD II scan tool, and read value of throttle valve opening percentage.
PREPARATION:
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DATA LIST / ETCS / THROTTLE POS.
CHECK:
Read its value displayed on the hand-held tester.
RESULT:
ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION RESULTSAccelerator Pedal Operation Throttle Valve Opening Position (%) Proceed to Releasing and depressing 0 A Releasing and depressing From approx. 0 to 75 B Releasing and depressing Approx. 100 C - Inspect throttle position sensor.
- Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector.
- Measure the resistance between the terminals of the throttle position sensor.
