Inspection Procedure
- Check operation of stop light.
CHECK:
Check that the stop light turns ON when the brake pedal is depressed, and turns OFF when the brake pedal is released.
NG: Check stop light system (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE ).
OK: Go to Next Step.
- Input signal check.
CHECK:
- See the input signal check in PRE-CHECK .
- Check the indicator light when the brake pedal is depressed.
OK:
- The indicator light goes OFF when the brake pedal is depressed.
OK: Proceed to next circuit inspection shown in problem symptoms table (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE ).
NG: Go to Next Step.
- Check voltage between terminal STP - of cruise control ECU connector and body ground.

PREPARATION:
- Remove the ECU with the connector being.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
CHECK:
Measure the voltage between terminal STP- of the ECU connector and the body ground when the brake pedal is depressed and released.
OK:
BRAKE PEDAL OPERATION VOLTAGEBrake Pedal Voltage Depressed 10 - 16 V Released Below 1 V OK: Proceed to next circuit inspection shown in problem symptoms table (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE ).
NG: Go to Next Step.
- Check for open in harness and connector between terminal STP- of cruise control ECU and stop light switch (See
HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE
) .
NG: Repair or replace harness or connector.
OK: Check and replace cruise control ECU (See HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE ) .
