Inspection Procedure

  1. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Warm up the engine.
    2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    3. Connect the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    4. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester main SW ON.
    5. Select the item "STOP LIGHT SW" in the DATALIST and read its value displayed on the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester.
    NOTE: The values given below for "Normal Condition" are representative values, so a vehicle may still be normal even if its value differs from those listed here. Do not depend solely on the "Normal Condition" here when deciding whether or not the part is faulty.

    OK: CHECK AND REPLACE ECM (See  TESTING PROCEDURE  ) 

    NG 

  2. INSPECT STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY (See  DTC C1249/49: OPEN CIRCUIT IN STOP LIGHT SWITCH CIRCUIT  ) 

    NG: REPLACE STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY 

    OK 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY - ECM)

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (See  TESTING PROCEDURE  ) 

    OK 

    CHECK AND REPLACE ECM (See  TESTING PROCEDURE  )
