Inspection Procedure

Check operation of overdrive .
1. Test drive after engine warmed up.
2. Check that overdrive ON/OFF occurs by operation of OD switch ON-OFF.
  1. OK: Go to next step.
  2. NG: Check and repair electronically controlled transmission. See PRELIMINARY INSPECTION .
Check voltage between terminal OD of cruise control ECU and body ground .
1. Remove the ECU with the connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
3. Disconnect the ECU connector.
  Measure the voltage between terminal OD of the ECU connector and the body ground.

  OK: Voltage: 10 - 16 V
  1. OK: Go to next step.
  2. NG: Go to step 5.
Check voltage between terminal ECT of cruise control ECU connector and body ground (On test drive) .
1. Connect the ECU connector.
2. Test drive after engine warmed up.
  Check the voltage between terminal ECT of the ECU connector and the body ground when the OD switch is ON and OFF.

  OK: See Fig 3 .

  1. OK: Proceed to next circuit inspection shown in PROBLEM SYMPTOMS .
  2. NG: Go to next step.
Check harness and connector between terminal ECT of cruise control ECU and electronically controlled transmission solenoid. See HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE .
1. OK: Check and replace cruise control ECU.
2. NG: Repair or replace harness or connector.
Check harness and connector between terminal OD of cruise control ECU and terminal OD1 of ECM. See HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE .
1. OK: Check and replace cruise control ECU. See HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE .
2. NG: Repair or replace harness or connector.
