Test No. 25: Driver's Side Front Door Power Window Will Not Operate

Check power window motor on driver's side front door. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR under COMPONENT TESTS. If power window motor is okay, go to next step. If power window motor is defective, replace power window motor and recheck power window operation. See POWER WINDOWS - CARS article.
Check wiring harness and electrical connectors between power window motor and driver's door Electronic Control Unit (ECU). See WIRING DIAGRAMS in POWER WINDOWS - CARS article. Driver's door ECU is located on the driver's door and is incorporated into the power window switch assembly. See Figure. If wiring harness and electrical connector are okay, go to next step. If wiring harness or electrical connector are defective, repair as necessary and recheck power window operation.
Check body ECU for proper voltage and input signals. See BODY ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT under PIN VOLTAGE TESTS. If proper voltage and input signals exist, go to next step. If proper voltage or input signal does not exist, repair as necessary and recheck power window motor operation.
Replace body ECU with a known-good body ECU and recheck power window operation. If power window operates properly, original body ECU was defective. If power window does not operate properly, check wiring harness and electrical connectors between body ECU and driver's door ECU and power window motor for an intermittent problem. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in POWER WINDOWS - CARS article. Repair wiring harness or electrical connector as necessary.
