Fuel Cut System

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2000 Toyota Tundra, 2000 Toyota Tacoma, 2000 Toyota Sienna, 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser, and 2000 Toyota Camry Solara. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. On Avalon, Camry, Camry Solara and Sienna, remove "V" bank cover on top of engine for access to fuel injectors. See Figure, Figure and Figure .
  2. On all models, connect scan tool to data link connector No. 3. See Figure-Figure . Scan tool is used to read engine RPM. Start engine and warm engine to normal operating temperature.
  3. Ensure A/C is off. Gradually increase engine RPM to specified RPM. See FUEL CUT SYSTEM TESTING SPEED  table.

    Avalon, Camry, Camry Solara, Sienna, Tacoma, Tundra 3.4L V6 & 4Runner 3500
    Land Cruiser & Tundra 4.7L V8 2500
  4. Using stethoscope, check for fuel injector operating sound. Ensure when throttle lever is released, fuel injector stops operating momentarily and then resumes operating (fuel return RPM).
  5. Ensure fuel return RPM is within specification. See FUEL CUT SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS  table. Shut engine off. Remove scan tool.
