Diagnosis & Repair

  1. Turn ignition off. Access ECM on driver's side of firewall behind driver's seat, luggage compartment lids and partition board. See Figure. Using DVOM, backprobe ECM harness connector and measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 1 (Black/Yellow wire) at ECM harness connector E2. See Figure. Voltage should be 9-14 volts. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step. If voltage is as specified, replace ECM.
  2. Remove and inspect EFI1 fuse (15-amp). EFI1 fuse is located in engine room junction box. If fuse is blown, repair short in power distribution circuit as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. It may be necessary to check wiring between battery and EFI1 fuse. For additional wiring for EFI1 fuse to the battery, see POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. If fuse is okay, repair open in wiring between EFI1 fuse and ECM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
