Tacoma, T100 & 4Runner

  1. Disconnect electrical connector from camshaft position sensor. Camshaft position sensor is located at driver's side front corner of cylinder head, just in front of the intake manifold. See Figure-32. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between electrical terminals on camshaft position sensor.
  2. Ensure camshaft position sensor resistance is within specification. See CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR RESISTANCE  table. Replace camshaft position sensor if resistance is not within specification. See REMOVE/INSTALL/OVERHAUL article. Reinstall electrical connector on camshaft position sensor.
