Fuel Pressure Regulator: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Ensure lock nut is fully screwed onto fuel pressure regulator. Install NEW "O" ring on fuel pressure regulator. Coat "O" ring with gasoline.
  2. Screw fuel pressure regulator fully into left fuel rail by hand. Rotate fuel pressure regulator counterclockwise until hose fittings are properly positioned. See Fig 1. Tighten fuel pressure regulator lock nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure using NEW gaskets on air intake chamber, EGR valve and EGR pipe, and fuel pipe at cold start injector. Tighten bolts/nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. When installing air intake chamber support brace along with EGR valve and EGR pipe, tighten bolts/nuts to specification. See Fig 2. Fill cooling system. Operate fuel pump and check for fuel leaks. See FUEL PUMP OPERATION under FUEL SYSTEM in BASIC TESTING - 3.0L article.
