Fuel Injectors & Fuel Rails: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove 3 screws securing right front seat scuff plate. Remove right seat belt from floor panel. Remove passenger front seat and right front seat leg. Remove jack holder. Remove right engine service hole cover. Remove PCV hose.
  2. Remove 2 bolts securing wiring harness to cylinder head. Remove 4 bolts securing wiring harness to intake manifold and fuel rail. Disconnect injector connectors. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE.
  3. Remove pressure regulator vacuum hose and fuel return hose. Remove fuel pipe union bolt from fuel rail. Remove 2 fuel rail mounting bolts. Remove fuel rail and mounting spacers from intake manifold. Remove injector covers and injector top insulators. Place Injector Remover (SST 09268-74010) on a flat surface.
  4. Place injector tip onto remover and push downward on fuel rail to free injector. Pull injectors from fuel rail. Remove injector tip insulator and 2 "O" rings from each injector.
