Test 5D: Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit

  1. Locate speed sensor on transmission and disconnect 3-pin connector. Ensure continuity exists between ground and connector terminal No. 2 (Brown wire). If continuity is not present, repair faulty ground or open in harness between connector terminal No. 2 and ground. If continuity is present, verify No. 1 vehicle speed sensor operation. See NO. 1 VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR under COMPONENT TESTING. If speed sensor is okay, go to next step.
  2. Connect No. 1 vehicle speed sensor. Disconnect CC ECU connector. Ensure repeated continuity exists between CC ECU connector terminal No. 20 (Black/Red wire) and ground as speed sensor is rotated. If continuity repeats, replace CC ECU and retest system. If continuity does not repeat, repair open or short in harness between CC ECU connector terminal No. 20 and No. 1 vehicle speed sensor connector terminal No. 2 (Brown wire).
