Bi-Metallic Vacuum Switching Valve (BVSV): Tercel

  1. Remove BVSV. The BVSV is located on fuel pump. See Figure. Cool BVSV to less than 4°F (5°C). Blow air into nozzle "J". Air should escape to nozzle "L". See Fig 1.
  2. Heat BVSV to more than 66°F (19°C). Blow air into nozzle "J". Air should escape from nozzle "K". If BVSV does not function as described, replace valve.
