CAUTION:
When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
To deter vehicle theft, the system is designed to give an alarm and keep the engine from being started if any of the doors, back hatch and hood is forcibly unlocked or the battery terminal is disconnected and then reconnected when the vehicle is locked. The alarm blows the horn intermittently and flashes the headlights, taillights and other exterior lights. The engine cannot be started because the starter circuit will be cut.
