Side Airbag - Inboard - Driver - Remove And Replace: Remove
- Open the LH front door.
- Lower the LH front window.
- Open the LH rear door.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace) .
- On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Safety & Security > Power Off
- Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) .
- Remove the driver headrest trim. See Trim - Headrest - Driver (Remove and Replace) .
- Release the seat back elastic straps (x2) from the seat frame.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Pick Miniature Soft Grip, 90 degree tip, 6 in
- With assistance, release the clips (x6) that attach the seat back cover to the driver seat, and then remove the cover from the seat.NOTE: Start at the top of the seat, and then pull the cover away from the frame.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Inflatable airbag
- Plastic trim tool
- Release the tabs (x4) that attach the RH side of the seat back trim flaps to the LH front seat back frame assembly.
- Disconnect the driver inboard side airbag connector.NOTE: Push down on the tab to release the connector from the airbag.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Pocket screwdriver
- Release the clip that attaches the driver seat harness to the RH side of the seat back frame assembly.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Clip pry tool
- Remove and discard the nuts (x2) that attach the driver inboard side airbag to the seat back frame assembly.NOTE: Carefully pull the seat cover and foam assembly away from the frame.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 11 mm deep socket
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- Release the studs (x2) that attach the driver inboard side airbag to the seat back frame assembly, and then remove the airbag from the vehicle.NOTE: Carefully pull the airbag chute away from the foam assembly to access the airbag.
