TPS Inspection (TBI)

  1. Disconnect TPS harness connector and throttle opener vacuum hose. Using hand vacuum pump, apply 19 in. Hg vacuum to throttle opener to move throttle lever to idle position.
  2. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between upper and lower terminals. See Figure . See THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS) RESISTANCE  table. If TPS cannot be adjusted to obtain correct values at idle, replace TPS.
