Gearshift Indicator Non-Operating Condition

NOTE: Though the gearshift indicator may not operate depending on the vehicle condition, this is not a malfunction. For the vehicle condition, refer to the following List 1.

NOTE: If the gearshift indicator does not operate properly when the vehicle is in other than the listed conditions, perform the diagnosis according to the List 2.

GEARSHIFT INDICATOR CONDITION - LIST 1

Gearshift indicator condition	Vehicle condition
Upshift and downshift indications do not appear.	Reverse gear is selected. Manual mode is not selected. Engine coolant temperature is low. Vehicle is stopped. Vehicle is driven at a low speed. VDC activates. The malfunction indicator light is lit. Malfunction indicator light flashes.
Only downshift indication does not appear.	1st gear is selected. Engine speed is high.
Only upshift indication does not appear.	Top gear is selected. Accelerator pedal is released. Brake pedal is depressed. Engine speed is low. The vehicle is driven on an uphill or towed.
