Oil Pipe: Removal

- Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
- Remove the intercooler. Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (STI)>INTERCOOLER>REMOVAL .
- Remove the turbocharger upper cover.
- Remove the oil inlet pipe from the turbocharger.CAUTION: In order to prevent damaging the oil pipe on the cylinder head side, fix the section (a) shown in the figure when loosing the oil inlet pipe flare nut, and avoid the part from rotating together while loosening the nut.
- Remove the turbocharger stay.
- Remove the turbocharger oil pipe.
- Drain engine coolant. Refer to COOLING(STI)>ENGINE COOLANT>REPLACEMENT>DRAINING OF ENGINE COOLANT .
- Remove the intake manifold. Refer to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (STI)>INTAKE MANIFOLD>REMOVAL .
- Remove the secondary air pump. (Oil pipe LH only) Refer to EMISSION CONTROL (AUX. EMISSION CONTROL DEVICES) (STI)>SECONDARY AIR PUMP>REMOVAL .
- Remove the bolt securing the water tank pipe assembly, and place the water tank pipe assembly aside so that it does not interfere with the work. (Oil pipe RH only)
- Remove the water pipe assembly. (Oil pipe RH only)NOTE: Do not remove the radiator inlet hose and heater outlet hose.
- Remove the radiator main fan and radiator sub fan. Refer to COOLING(STI)>RADIATOR MAIN FAN AND FAN MOTOR>REMOVAL . Refer to COOLING(STI)>RADIATOR SUB FAN AND FAN MOTOR>REMOVAL .
- Remove the V-belts. Refer to MECHANICAL(STI)>V-BELT>REMOVAL .
- Remove the crank pulley. Refer to MECHANICAL(STI)>CRANK PULLEY>REMOVAL .
- Remove the timing belt cover. Refer to MECHANICAL(STI)>TIMING BELT COVER>REMOVAL .
- Remove the timing belt. Refer to MECHANICAL(STI)>TIMING BELT>REMOVAL .
- Remove the cam sprocket LH. Refer to MECHANICAL(STI)>CAM SPROCKET>REMOVAL .
- Remove the timing belt cover No. 2 LH.
- Remove the oil pipe.
