AWD Warning Light Display: Diagnosis

Trouble symptom: 

• When the ignition switch is turned to ON, the AWD light does not illuminate.
• After READY ON, the AWD warning light continues to illuminate.
• Immediately after READY ON, the AWD warning light begins blinking.

1. CHECK AWD WARNING LIGHT  .

   Turn the ignition switch to ON.

   Does AWD warning light illuminate for 2 seconds after turning the ignition switch to ON?

   Yes:  Go to  2.

   No:  Perform the self-diagnosis of combination meter. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER SYSTEM>OPERATION>SELF-DIAGNOSIS DISPLAY MODE .

2. CHECK AWD WARNING LIGHT  .

   Turn the ignition switch to ON.

   Does AWD warning light go off when 2 seconds have elapsed after turning the ignition switch to ON?

   Yes:  Current condition is normal.

   No:  Go to  3.

3. CHECK AWD WARNING LIGHT  .

   Does the AWD warning light illuminate?

   Yes:  Go to  4.

   No:  Go to  5.

4. CHECK AWD ON/OFF SWITCHING FUNCTION  .

   Using the Subaru Select Monitor, select [AWD ON/OFF switching mode] on the [Work Support] screen, and check the current mode. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TH2A)>AWD ON/OFF SWITCHING MODE .

   Is the message [At present, the vehicle is in AWD. Switch to FF?] displayed?

   Yes:  Go to  8.

   No:  Switch to AWD mode.

5. CHECK AWD WARNING LIGHT  .

   Is AWD Warning light blinking at 2 Hz?

   Yes:  Go to  6.

   No:  Current condition is normal.

6. CHECK FUEL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT  .

   Is the remaining fuel level warning light illuminated?

   Yes:  Add fuel.

   No:  Go to  7.

7. CHECK AWD CONTROL MODULE  .

   Read the DTC of [AWD Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to AWD CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

   Are any DTCs displayed?

   Yes:  Perform the diagnosis according to the DTC. Ref. to AWD CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>LIST .

   No:  Go to  8.

8. CHECK COMBINATION METER  .

   Perform the self-diagnosis of combination meter. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER SYSTEM>OPERATION>SELF-DIAGNOSIS DISPLAY MODE .

   Is the check result OK?

   Yes:  Replace the AWD control module. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TH2A)>AWD CONTROL MODULE .

   No:  Repair or replace the combination meter. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER .
