Rocker Cover LH
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Install new spark plug pipe gaskets to the spark plug pipe.NOTE: Apply a light coat of engine oil to the spark plug pipe gaskets, and insert them onto the spark plug pipe edge (A).
- Install new rocker cover gasket (ring type) to the cam carrier LH.
- Install new rocker cover gasket LH to the rocker cover LH.
- Apply liquid gasket to the mating surface of rocker cover LH as shown in the figure.NOTE:
- Before applying liquid gasket, degrease the old liquid gasket seal surface of the engine.
- Be careful not to allow liquid gasket to be squeezed out from rocker cover LH.
- Install within 5 min. after applying liquid gasket.
Liquid gasket:
THREE BOND 1217G (Part No. K0877Y0100), THREE BOND 1217H or equivalent
Liquid gasket applying diameter:
4.5±1.5 mm (0.1772±0.0591 in)
- Install the rocker cover LH to the cam carrier LH.
- Set the rocker cover LH on the cam carrier LH, and fasten all bolts until their two full threads engage.
- Tighten all bolts with a torque of 6.4 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 4.7 ft-lb) in numerical order as shown in the figure.
- Tighten all bolts again with a torque of 6.4 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 4.7 ft-lb) in numerical order as shown in the figure.
NOTE: This procedure is necessary to stabilize torque. - Connect the connector to the water pipe LH.
- Install the #2 ignition coil and the #4 ignition coil. Refer to IGNITION (H4DOTC)>Ignition Coil>INSTALLATION>LH SIDE .
- Install the side engine oil cooler pipe. Refer to LUBRICATION (H4DOTC)>Engine Oil Cooler>INSTALLATION>SIDE ENGINE OIL COOLER PIPE .
- When working on the vehicleNOTE: When working on the vehicle, perform the following steps also.
- Support the engine with a lifting device and wire ropes.
- Lift the engine a little, and remove the ST.CAUTION: When lifting up the engine, pay attention to the clearance of each part and be careful not to lift the engine too much, in order to prevent damaging the vehicle.
- Lower the engine and remove the lifting device and wire ropes.
- Remove the ST1 and ST2 from the engine unit.
- Install the pitching stopper. Refer to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR690)>Transmission Mounting System>INSTALLATION>PITCHING STOPPER .
- Lift up the vehicle.
- Install the nuts which hold the engine mounting to the crossmember COMPL front.CAUTION: Be sure to use a new nut.NOTE: Make sure that locators (a) of the engine mounting are securely inserted.
Tightening torque:
90 N.m (9.2 kgf-m, 66.4 ft-lb)
- Install the center exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST (H4DOTC)>Center Exhaust Pipe>INSTALLATION .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Attach the bracket.
Tightening torque:
7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)
- Place the engine wiring harness and secure the engine wiring harness to the bracket with the claw (A).
- Set the battery cable assembly, and secure the battery cable assembly to the bracket with claw (B).
- Install the engine wiring harness to the clip (A), and connect the connector (B).
- Connect the connector (C) and connector (D) in numerical order shown in figure.
- Install the battery. Refer to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DOTC)>Battery>INSTALLATION .
- Install the air intake duct. Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>Air Intake Duct>INSTALLATION .
- Install the V-belt cover.
Tightening torque:
7 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 5.2 ft-lb)
- Fill engine coolant. Refer to COOLING (H4DOTC)>Engine Coolant>REPLACEMENT>FILLING OF ENGINE COOLANT .
- Set the panel COMPL front hood to the normal position. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>STAY ASSEMBLY FRONT HOOD .
- Install the striker assembly front hood. Refer to EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>Front Hood>ASSEMBLY .
- Close the panel COMPL front hood.
- Support the engine with a lifting device and wire ropes.
