How To Troubleshoot

  3. Warning light check
    1. Check CAN communication system. (Refer to HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT )
      RESULT

      Result Go to
      The airbag warning light illuminates. A
      The airbag warning light does not illuminate. B

      B: Perform a failure diagnosis based on the malfunction symptom.

      A: Go to Next Step

  4. DTC reading
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Connect the Subaru Select Monitor to data link connector.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON and start the Subaru Select Monitor.
    4. Read the DTC.
      NOTE: If the communication function of the Subaru Select Monitor does not operate properly, inspect the communication circuit.
    5. Record all DTCs and failure status information.
      RESULT

      Result Go to
      DTC is detected. A
      DTC is not detected. B

      B: Refer to "Fault in the airbag warning light" and perform the INSPECTION STEPS .

      A: Go to Next Step

  5. Performing diagnosis
    1. Diagnose the possible cause based on the list of diagnostic codes.
    2. Perform the inspection according to the diagnostic codes.
    3. Repair the cause of the fault.
    4. Clear the diagnostic codes.
    5. Perform the check mode.
    6. Check that no other DTC is detected.
      RESULT

      Result Go to
      DTC is detected. A
      DTC is not detected. B

      B: Complete the diagnosis.

      A: Perform the steps ( 1) to ( 5) of the procedure 5.
