Now that the new 2013 Legacy & Outback models equipped with the EyeSight system are being delivered to your dealerships, as Technicians, it is important to understand precautions which need to be taken when working with these vehicles. It would also be a good idea to pass this information along to your Sales staff and your customers to reinforce the information already available in the Owner's Manual.

To avoid unexpected activation of EyeSight's Pre-Collision Braking System it must be turned OFF in the following situations:

• When the vehicle is being towed or loaded onto a transporter
• When testing the vehicle on a chassis dynamometer
• When the vehicle is on a lift with the engine running and the wheels turning freely

These situations are directed more toward customers:

• When passing under low-hanging banners or thick vegetation that may contact the vehicle
• When passing through automatic gates (e.g. parking garages or toll gates)
• When following the vehicle in front closely (e.g. bumper-to-bumper traffic conditions)
• When driving on hilly terrain where the grade of the road changes rapidly
