INTRODUCTION

This Bulletin provides information regarding a design change to the rubber cap which covers the electrical connection at the oil pressure switch. The new cap provides better sealing and resistance to moisture intrusion which can compromise the electrical connection and in some cases, cause the oil pressure warning lamp to illuminate in error.

COUNTERMEASURE IN PRODUCTION

The new rubber cap was incorporated into production during early December, 2012, starting with the following VINs:

VEHICLE TYPE MODEL STARTING VIN
Impreza 4-Door D*017346
5-Door D*823167
Forester All D*400124

PART INFORMATION

PART NAME NEW PART NUMBER
Cap-Terminal 22187AA080

G08669480
G08669481

SERVICE PROCEDURE/INFORMATION

Follow the procedure in the applicable Service Manual if replacing the oil pressure switch. Be sure to follow the proper torque procedure for both the switch and  the electrical connection where applicable as it varies by model. The rubber material used to make the cap is soft and pliable enough so the wire and terminal eyelet can be pushed through the "tube" portion easily. Use a little bit of dielectric grease on the terminal eyelet as a lubricant if necessary. Confirm the new rubber cap is installed as shown in the illustration above with no roll-up of the bottom sealing edges.
