Basic Diagnostic Procedure: Procedure

NOTE:

To check harness for broken wires or short circuits, shake it while holding it or the connector.

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE CHART

1 PERFORM THE PRE-INSPECTION. Ask the customer when and how the trouble occurred using interview check list. <Ref. to CHECK LIST FOR INTERVIEW . > Before performing diagnosis, inspect the unit which might influence the VDC problem. <Ref. to INSPECTION GENERAL DESCRIPTION. >	Is the component that might influence the VDC problem working properly?	Go to step 2.	Repair or replace each component.
2 CHECK INDICATION OF DTC ON SCREEN. Turn the ignition switch OFF. Connect the Subaru Select Monitor to the data link connector. Turn the ignition switch to ON and Subaru Select Monitor ON. Read the DTC. <Ref. to OPERATION READ DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC). > Record all DTCs and freeze frame data.	Is DTC displayed?	Go to step 4.	Go to step 3.
3 PERFORM GENERAL DIAGNOSTICS. Inspect using "General Diagnostic Table". <Ref. to INSPECTION GENERAL DIAGNOSTIC TABLE. > Perform the Clear Memory Mode. <Ref. to OPERATION CLEAR MEMORY MODE. > Perform the Inspection Mode. <Ref. to OPERATION INSPECTION MODE. > Read the DTC. <Ref. to OPERATION READ DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC). > Check the DTC is not displayed.	Is the warning light pattern normal? <Ref. to WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATION PATTERN . >	Finish the diagnosis.	Check the warning light. Refer to "LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE(DTC) " for the contents of the diagnosis. <Ref. to LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE(DTC) . >
4 PERFORM DIAGNOSIS. Inspect using the "Diagnostic Procedure with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". <Ref. to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . > NOTE: Refer to "LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE(DTC) " for the DTC list. <Ref. to LIST LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC). > Correct the cause of trouble. Perform the Clear Memory Mode. <Ref. to OPERATION CLEAR MEMORY MODE. > Perform the Inspection Mode. <Ref. to OPERATION INSPECTION MODE. > Read the DTC. <Ref. to READ DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) OPERATION, Subaru Select Monitor. >	Is DTC displayed?	Inspect using the "Diagnostic Procedure with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". <Ref. to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . >	Finish the diagnosis.
