DTC P0113: Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Circuit High Input
- Perform test procedure. See TESTING PROCEDURE . Start engine. Using a scan tool, monitor intake air temperature sensor signal. Intake air temperature sensor signal value should be less than -40°F (-40°C). If intake air temperature sensor signal value is less than -40°F (-40°C), go to next step. If intake air temperature sensor signal value is not less than -40°F (-40°C), check for poor contact in all connectors between intake air temperature and pressure sensor and ECM. See ENGINE PERFORMANCE in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect 4-pin electrical harness connector from intake air temperature and pressure sensor. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between intake air temperature and pressure sensor 4-pin electrical harness connector terminal No. 2 (Green/Black wire on Forester, Legacy and Outback; Brown wire on Impreza and Outback Sport). See Figure. If voltage is not more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is more than 10 volts, locate and repair short to voltage in wiring between ECM and intake air temperature and pressure sensor. See ENGINE PERFORMANCE in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE .
- Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between intake air temperature and pressure sensor 4-pin electrical harness connector terminal No. 2 (Green/Black wire on Forester, Legacy and Outback; Brown wire on Impreza and Outback Sport). See Figure. If voltage is not more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is more than 10 volts, locate and repair short to voltage in wiring between ECM and intake air temperature and pressure sensor. See ENGINE PERFORMANCE in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE .
- Using a DVOM, measure voltage between intake air temperature and pressure sensor 4-pin electrical harness connector terminal No. 2 (Green/Black wire on Forester, Legacy and Outback; Brown wire on Impreza and Outback Sport). See Figure. If voltage is more than 3 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not more than 3 volts, check for open circuit in wiring between ECM and intake air temperature and pressure sensor. Also check for poor contact in all connectors between intake air temperature and pressure sensor and ECM. See ENGINE PERFORMANCE in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE .
- Turn ignition off. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between intake air temperature and pressure sensor 4-pin electrical harness connector terminal No. 1 (Green wire on Forester; Black/Red wire on Impreza and Outback Sport; Black wire on Legacy and Outback). See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace intake air temperature and pressure sensor. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, locate and repair open circuit in wiring between ECM and intake air temperature and pressure sensor. Also check for poor contact in all connectors between intake air temperature and pressure sensor and ECM. See ENGINE PERFORMANCE in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE .
